Back to news home Media reports today indicate increased vacancies advertised for 11 of 18 monitored skilled occupations, the greatest demand being for marketing and advertising skills followed by the trades. Latest Australian skilled job vacancies rose 2.4 per cent in March with trades and associate professionals leading the demand for skilled recruits. Western Australia led with most increased demand for skills, with a rise of 6.4 per cent with demand decreasing only in Queensland which also recorded a 43.7 per cent fall in job vacancies in the year to March. Most states and territories recorded rising job vacancy figures with a with a 66.7 per cent increase in the Northern Territory. According to reports, DEEWR (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations) the figures show “ the first positive annual growth reading in trend terms since February 2007 ”. ...
